America in Transition: What’s the Hurry?

A November 23 headline at ABC News reads: “Joe Biden’s presidential transition allowed to proceed after 16-day standoff.” The 16 days in question, ABC tells us, are the 16 days since Biden “clinched the presidency.” “Clinched the presidency” is ABC News-speak for “the media decided he won.” In point of fact, the 2020 presidential election … Continue reading America in Transition: What’s the Hurry? → - by Thomas L. Thankful, 2020 Edition

It’s Thanksgiving week in the United States. Since 1942 by act of Congress, and intermittently before that since the arrival of British settlers in North America, Americans have enjoyed a Thursday holiday around the end of November. Catalyst in detail: Sun, 22 Nov 2020 12:15:47

Your attention is drawn to this selection from the 2013 Catalyst Thesis: “The greatest obstacle… would be the prevailing notion of citizenship, and so the targeted de-legitimization of nations and citizenship is a worthy goal for any currents of techno-liberation. Such a goal can be achieved by thwarting the divisions among nations and thus violating the ideological mask maintaining global disparities. Differences of language and culture represent significant barriers that justify separation and disparity among groups in the global system. If technologies can be developed that allow for greater communication across borders, for example technologies that enhance what the internet is already doing and allow the language barriers to be eroded, then such technologies will help to undermine the social cohesion of nation-states. In turn, this action will force people to re-examine their identities in a more rational way. They may, in this process, de-legitimize and question the concepts of nation and citizen and turn to another basis of identity instead. In addition to breaking down the language barriers, the leaking of state information can also serve to de-legitimize the state and undermine its bullying power with the assistance of technology.” The whole earth is already an experiment. No-one is above it. http://www.clubof.info/p/catalyst.html

Time to take a look at the following: “Considering ease of travel and ease of communication, it is easy to say that borders are becoming porous and we are all already neighbors, as a result of what has been called time-space compression. This “global village” has led to our much greater global awareness and a huge level of cross-cultural understanding not previously known. This is true even if people have continued to omit their global awareness from much of their long-term political thinking, and still hold numerous mistaken or dated ideas about the world and how it should progress. It is reasonable to expect further social change with the inevitable universal spread of communication technology and the expansion of the internet. It is also possible to prepare for the proliferation and convergence of yet unrevealed liberating technologies in the coming decades, as already suggested in the previous chapter. With the internet and mobile phones already sufficiently incorporated in the human ‘political animal’, other gadgets are not far away from enhancing politics into something else altogether. Quite probably, such developments are going to lead to new kinds of regimes in the future, but it is hard to predict exactly what they might look like at present. They would come about as a result of the world-system ‘evolving’ and fluctuating, rather than our choices specifically, although our choices would impact this evolution as always. If the world was translated and communication became universal, this would represent an unprecedented awakening for humanity and a blow to all sectarianism and parochialism in the world. It would also allow for greater awareness of inequality in the world, and such a ‘transhuman’ development will make better political animals immune to schisms and differences.” We have seen the power in the DNA of our technology, and the sin is not to act boldly but to deny the human right to that power. http://www.clubof.info/p/catalyst.html

Your attention is drawn to the following: “The move for technology-powered emancipation would focus on finding ways of sustaining and keeping global welfare intact. Aspects of the world order that appear calculated to preserve the production process by keeping industrial secrets in the hands of the few are really aimed at keeping the production process maximally profitable. As technology races forward in terms of medicine, energy and agriculture, it will only become a scandal that it is being developed and used for purposes of profit rather than humanitarian needs. Techno-liberation actions could include a moral need to violate patents and security concerns to make more medical and food supplies available to the world poor.” We have seen the power in the DNA of our technology. http://www.clubof.info/p/catalyst.html

Attempting to accurately predict things forces us to master an understanding of the secrets of history itself. Focus for a moment on this selection from the 2013 futurist “Catalyst” thesis by Harry Bentham: “We are currently able to witness transnational political actions, e.g. global protests and formation of transnational political will, to an extent that would be impossible before the internet. This is a trend that does not carry good news for the traditional Nineteenth Century nation-states we are living in. It undermines the capacity for any nation-state to live in isolation from world opinion, and to base decisions on some kind of national consensus independent of the political will of humanity. Such a possibility would likely not have been as notable in the past, because the expansion of the world-system seen today has been due to the increases in networking from better transport and communication technology. Because of this, the consequence of the internet is that the communication option, i.e. the ‘political’ option, of the global system becomes clearer to everyone.” The truths of modernity must be acted upon, techno-liberation is necessary. http://www.clubof.info/p/catalyst.html

On this day our choice is Dr Hesham Hassaballa’s co-authored Beliefnet Guide to Islam (https://t.co/AmQr6ba8Tc). The Guide is a challenge to our prejudices, an intriguing commentary, so if we’re going to declare our praises with certainty we’re keeping it on our lists. Here we discovered contributions that are surely woke in their insight. Before you leave our site, you’ve got to begin by reading how readers react. In the words of one reader, - the book will “In great details address issues that most westerners misunderstand regarding Islam. Great book, would highly recommend for many Muslims as well.” Similar works by Dr Hassaballa have been described as a “joy to read”. If you read this post, you might as well go one small step further and search for your own copy. If not, stay with us for more by subscribing for email updates.

Let’s take another look at this selection from the 2013 futurist “Catalyst” thesis by Harry Bentham: “In anticipating risks in the future, it is easy to forget how past technological advancements have produced a vastly greater number of solutions and beneficial lessons than catastrophes. Therefore, if any arguments are burdened with prejudice, they must be the arguments from those ethicists and science-fiction artists who insist on depicting the immediate future as a dark morass to be entered slowly and cautiously. States continue to act the same after elections

L'Ordre: Why do elected leaders so often betray their campaign promises? Every time, even the simplest of promises are not honored by leaders, resulting in a failure to serve the people, no matter how obvious the people's message was. An obvious example is that every US president promises to withdraw from the Middle East and subsequently fails to do so. The problem lies with processes devised to deliberately obfuscate the democratic will, in order for it to be consistently and deliberately disrespected, no matter how voters voted.
