Response to the San Bernardino attack

D. Helene

A Spiritual Response to the San Bernardino Terrorist Attack

Where is the Muslim Gandhi?

The terrorist attack in San Bernardino hit very close to home for me. San Bernardino is 55.5 miles from where I live.

In my humble opinion, before we start to point fingers, engage in conspiracy theories and chastise those who would use this tragedy for any political agenda, we need to view the entire incident through a spiritual lens, focusing on compassion.

So, let’s take a look at each of the parties involved.

Obviously, the victims and their families deserve our compassion. They were innocent victims, going to a holiday work party to celebrate the holiday season. So, let’s shine compassion on the souls of the victims and on their families.

Secondly, the neighbors who saw “suspicious” activities by the alleged perpetrators. They deserve our compassion as well. Those that saw what they believed to be suspicious activity and did not report it to the proper authorities need our compassion – they are suffering severe emotional turmoil right now after 14 people were killed and many more injured. They deserve our compassion because they did not trust their intuition. If you observe anyone doing anything suspicious, it doesn’t matter if they’re black or white, Muslim or Jewish or Christian. All that matters is what they are doing and what your gut feeling is. We here in the West have been so discouraged from trusting our intuition. In the spiritual realm, intuition is honed and honored. So, this must be one of the take-aways from this incident.

Third, we need to have compassion for the perpetrators. They are acting out an agenda that must be examined from the root cause. What Muslim terrorists (and this is a very small portion of the Muslim population, as the religion itself is based on peace) are doing is based on a century or more of oppression and colonialism. They are choosing violence to protest this. I am by no means condoning their action. What they did in San Bernardino - as in Paris, as anywhere where violence is used - was reprehensible. I am trying to widen the lens and look at this from the root cause. The root causes are manifold including:

All of this is now coming to roost as Muslims demand freedom, autonomy and integrity of their land, all of which they deserve.

Fourth: Compassion for the baby the perpetrators left behind. It is unfathomable how a couple hell-bent on destruction would bring a baby into this world. This baby needs our infinite compassion as its parents are murderers. To start one’s life with that kind of blood on one’s soul will take a tremendous amount of unconditional love.

The spiritual question is: Who is the Muslim Gandhi who will choose peace over violence and lead Muslims to freedom and autonomy through peace?

The Mont Order's unofficial conspiracy

The Blog

The Mont Order, a name well-known to conspiracy theorists (just search Google!) as some legendary and possibly ancient sect of intellectual and social engineers, today has no shortage of influence in the global information media.

According to its biography with the prominent alternative media outlet Dissident Voice, the Mont Order was once a unique society of students with an interest in religion. After its formal existence ended, it has been "continuing its campaigns through friendly organizations". And, rather than manifesting as an evident political group, it has amassed a membership consisting of already active organizations and individuals with the aim of bringing them success and security.

Evidence of Mont's continuing "campaigns" can be found in the writings of a number of bloggers and web-based publications right now. To this end, we have prepared a sample, from the micro-blogging website Twitter, of some of the recent blog posts from the Order's wise and diverse members. The posts illustrate the mutually supportive writing styles of differing members, and how they instinctively work towards the same anti-colonial and liberating goals across the world.

Just follow Mont Unofficial (@montorder), for more posts updated automatically from all across the Mont Order society.

While the Mont Order still appears to lack a published ideology or program, or even a stated headquarters or country of operation, there are no limits to its reach across borders. Mont thinkers already contribute at several influential publications based in multiple countries, and have hinted repeatedly at a goal to enlarge this influence across the world to achieve a truly global network of civil society pressure and information.

Outside observers of Mont have little idea what the Mont Order aims to achieve, and its own members have confessed to not knowing what the group is for. Such uncertainty, while disorienting to outsiders, has not hindered the capability of members to help each other in the field of information media so far.

D. Helene wins Global E-Book award

The Blog

Author D. Helene's novel, Diary of a 99%er, has achieved 3rd place in Global E-Book Awards in the Fiction-Spiritual/Metaphysical category.

Diary of a 99%er is a fiction novel that focuses on a couple who both belong to the 99% - the Occupy movement's term for the majority of America's working people. While set against the backdrop of the US economic recession, the book also has a strong spiritual dimension that sees spirituality and yoga as means to cope with economic hardship.

Visit our spirituality website

From the description of the book at a website dedicated to marketing this work of fiction:
If you’ve ever had a micro-managing boss, you can relate to this novel.
If you’ve ever asked yourself, how did I get into this dead-end job, and how can I get out of it? you can relate to this novel.
If you’ve ever yearned to express yourself creatively and make a living doing so, thereby extricating yourself from the 9-5, paycheck-to-paycheck treadmill, you can relate to this novel.
If you turn to spirituality and yoga to cope, you can relate to this novel.
Inspired by Obama's recognition of the 99%, the book "takes a humorous look at the contrast between struggling to survive financially and expressing oneself creatively".

D. Helene is a journalist, political activist, yoga instructor and a member of the global Mont Order society.

Review: Diary of a 99%er

The Blog

Mont Order blogger Robert Wei has published a review of the book Diary of a 99%er authored by D. Helene.

Encouraging readers to pick up the book, which addresses the "Struggle Between Survival and Creative Self-Expression", Wei wrote of these subjects:
Life in the West is not all that some may imagine. While superficially and materially there may (or may not) be more to content one’s self with the vast majority of people are often stuck in the “rat race,” a seemingly never-ending struggle to keep up with the norms of a society that largely ignores the spiritual health of its members and while appearing more affluent than many of us in the East they are locked into a mind-numbing and soul-crushing existence where even the simple pleasures of living that we sometimes take for grant are missing. “The Land of the Free and Home of the Brave” – the US particularly exemplifies this existence while in my observation it would be more aptly described the Land on the Unconsciously Enslaved within the Heart of Fear. A powerful elite has obtained almost complete dominance of society in a way that is quite pervasive and intrusive. The Occupy Movement named that elite the 1%. Only the 1% by my estimation actually enjoy to some degree the freedom of that society; a freedom they use to err greatly.
By contrast the life of the 99% is one dominated by hierarchy, bureaucracy and the expectation of mental slavery. Where if you don’t keep up and shut up you might easily find yourself struggling even to survive in a place that otherwise looks like paradise. A place where being poor is seen as a crime and being truly free is viewed as subversive. To free one’s self from the chains of mental slavery – as per the words of the famous song by Bob Marley – one really must attain to a spiritual awakening and real freedom.
One of my family members experienced this life first hand. She was changed by that experience. Living under such duress of pretend affluence working for the boss from hell in none other than the fashion industry, I could no longer recognize the kind and loving sister I once knew. She exhibited even some psychosis – waking in the middle of every night cursing and moving around in an agitated state within her apartment while I visited her once in New York City. I engaged her in her dream state: “Who am I?” “You know damn well who you are, you f@#$ing b^*ch,” then saying the name of her boss. This is not an acceptable “side-effect” of pursuing one’s dream, neither was the disguised poverty or anorexia. I wish she had given up that rat race then to pursue her bliss rather than a mere objective of superficial affluence and high fashion.
The full review was published on 10 June and can be read at the Mont Order shared blog, based at the central website of the Mont Order club.
