Mont Order Questions and Google Searches Answered by L'Ordre (@LOrdreNet)

14/02/2018, 20:45

The following are emailed questions and Google searches by internet users trying to find out more about the Mont Order group. Now you get the answers from L'Ordre (using the handle @LOrdreNet on Twitter), a close friend of the Mont Order group. The following answers were jotted down here in the United Kingdom on Wednesday evening, aiming to satisfy your curiosity about the Mont Order once and for all.

Google: "mont order"

The Mont Order has a couple of different meanings. The first is the older one, referring to an alleged group from the dawn of time that supposedly knew the future. Conspiracy theorists have posted quite a few bits of sensational information about that group. I don't know anything more about it than they do, but it is interesting. The second meaning of the Mont Order's name is the group I've been active in since a small cooperative publishing effort I tried in 2013. So the digital group is maybe only 5 years old and quite small. It convened for the first time via online video conference in February 2015, that's 3 years ago. Since that time it has expanded quite a lot on social media and has strong relationship to a number of alternate media websites where we hope to influence world opinion. It is done out of hope. I hope we can create effective contributions to the dissident sphere in the US, UK and other Western countries and have a constructive impact on popular opinion, particularly skepticism with regard to the state and its narratives. One of the best descriptions of the Mont Order would be that it is a product and information sharing society. As creators, we share our products. As readers and analysts, we share information.

Google: "mont order society"

Yes, sometimes the Mont Order is referred to as the Mont Order society. Of course, that isn't some kind of longer official name of the group. It is a good description, though. As I said, we are a product and information sharing society. We are like a "society" or "association", but I view it all more as a list of contacts. I hope we can all be closely aligned, but in practice that is not always the case. I do believe that whatever collective sharing of stories does occur through the shared accounts, whether on Twitter or elsewhere, has a definite positive impacts on our collective reach, influence and credibility. Such activity has only grown so far, although I am pessimistic about the long-term prospects of an association being gathered and run on social media. You might say it is the norm now for societies to digitize themselves and become online forums, but I think something more enduring is needed. For the foreseeable future, our "society" will continue to survive by dispersing its influence through several independent media outlets, despite growing pressure on such outlets by hostile governments and corporations seeking dominance in the information space. I hope we and our friends win on this information front, but history often has other plans than what we desire. I am constantly thinking about other fronts that can be used to meet the needs of dissidents but it is far too early to talk about them and no-one else is yet talking about them, either.

Google: "mont order secret society"

Sure, some online work-spaces of the Mont Order are locked down for members only. The group itself is clearly not secret, so the description of "secret society" would seem to be inaccurate, unless there is another group using our name that does not reveal itself.

"Learn"

You can learn all you need to about the Mont Order by using the subscription links available and reading information pages held at the Mont unofficial information site lordre.net and sympathetic websites. Also just search using Google to see if your query has already been answered.

"I subscribe to the Facebook group and read the articles as they are published. Would like to understand more about Mont Order and it's (sic) people"

There is really not much more to show. We do have work-spaces for members only, but you would need to be a member to see them. The subject matter of the Mont Order is obscure for most people. The only significant barrier to learning about us is not knowing we exist in the first place. Once you break that barrier, you can pretty easily find everything you want to find.

"I’m someone whose (sic) very intrigued by your work! And i would like to learn more if you would grant me the opportunity"

To really learn more, the best way would be to just join the Order. A Mont Order online course at openlearning.com even exists for this purpose. Following the whole process would not only allow you to really learn who we are and what we do, but also allow you to influence us and help decide the course of our actions. We are very open to anyone who can demonstrate a keen ability to decipher world events, with particular interest in politics and technology. But to be accepted as a member, you really need to have some product or privilege you want to share with us. That is really what glues the group together. If you have a book or a blog that aligns with ours, that is absolutely what we are looking for.

'My Favorite Apps' : Zoe's Secret Style

. @ZoesSecretStyle. @PicsArtMobile. @SurfCityApps #app. #blog. #pic.

From our partner blog, Zoe's Secret Style.

Hello lovelies! These are my favorite apps (all free of course - at least on iPhones). I have a lot more but figured they aren't as interesting.

1) Bloglovin - I swear I read blogs during every single spare second I have. The down side to that is that I always run out of blogs to read, and its very rare that I like the "popular" ones.. Please comment your Bloglovin URLs - I'm desperate!

2) Twitter - when I'm not on Bloglovin, this is where I am: tweeting, RTing and reading tweets (and finding more blogs to read).

3) Pinterest - I'm usually only here early in the morning before everyones tweeting and Twitter is dead. (I live in Israel which is GMT+2), so usually only on my school bus.

4) Depression by Surf City Apps - they have a lot of hypnosis apps that I love listening to. They're about 30 minutes each, and make me feel better instantly while I'm feeling depressed. I also have their Sleep Well app that helps me fall asleep.

5) 8Tracks - I love discovering new music. If you're new to 8tracks, basically how it works is that people create playlists and you listen to them. You can also 'like' playlists so the app knows what kind of playlists to recommend.

6) PicsArt - my favorite editing app! Offers lots of different services, filters, fonts etc.

I also love WhatsApp, but didn't know where to put it as its an essential for me and not for fun (well.. also).

Do you use any of these? What do you think of them and what are your favorite apps?

Zoe xx

A Transformational Experience

. @hjbentham. #transhumanism. #transformer. #tech. #netbook.

I have been genuinely awed by a radical new design of netbook, which I bought to replace an earlier machine after the keyboard suffered under a coffee spill. When this coffee spill destroyed the keyboard with with which I had written 15 books and published work in over 40 different sources, I realized just how dependent I had been on technology. What to do? Surely, anything else I bought would eventually succumb to the same kind of silly accident? I don't believe that.

My solution? Imagine that you spill your coffee on your laptop computer. You do not waste a moment mourning your lost technology. Instead, you disconnect the compromised keyboard and throw it to the floor after which you continue with the touchscreen. ASUS has introduced the "Transformer Book", with which you can now do this. After I had ordered the Transformer Book, swayed by its promise of transformation, I regained control of the keyboard that had suffered under the coffee spill. However, that didn't change my mind about buying a Transformer Book.

All the essential hardware of the transformer book is contained in the screen. which detaches to become a 10-inch tablet. Such a design is inherently more durable and effective that what you'll find in conventional netbooks. Keyboards get worn down, and they create a horrible vulnerability to liquids. Touchscreens malfunction if they get liquids on them, but they don't suffer any permanent damage.

What I found was the ASUS Transformer Book T100. I tend to only go for the cheapest available computers, and this was no exception, but I was impressed by the incredible power of this tiny computer. Honestly, it is like having the power of a full desktop PC in your hands.

The new separation feature, in which the screen and keyboard can be separated to offer an incredibly powerful tablet, make this netbook very friendly. It is comfortable for entertainment and play, as well as being as efficient as possible for work. You can literally use this as two completely different devices.

If you have a very mobile lifestyle or you prefer not to be fixed in one place, this gives you the power of a full desktop PC wherever you go. The Transformer book is very fast, excellent for writers and bloggers, who will find themselves able to get everything done at the maximum speed and efficiency.

Making the most of your #laptop… case

An excellent laptop case is essential if you take good care of your hardware on the move. Netbooks have their own selection of cases too. The following are the best choices determined by ClubOfINFO, if you are in need of a case.

Cases can actually be used for more than just keeping dust off your laptop. According to one personal security expert, they even help privacy. Correctly sealed, they will neutralize the ability of hackers and government spies to listen in on your personal conversations via your machine when it isn’t in use.

Best laptop case

A laptop sleeve is just as effective as a laptop case (minus that you can’t keep your lead and other equipment in it), and many are carefully engineered impact foam to absorb shock if the machine is dropped. Our recommendation of this kind is the Case Logic sleeve for 15 inch screens.

If a full case is what you are searching for, you will need to be prepared to pay more, but it will have the added bonus of being able to store your lead, a tablet and more. In fact, many of these are indistinguishable from the briefcases that many people use to carry their workload. For this, we recommend the Case Logic 17 inch laptop and tablet case.

Of course, we recognize that these cases only work for you if you have one of the bigger laptops that are increasingly popular now. Many, like me, instead prefer to rely on netbooks because they are such small and convenient partners to have.

Best netbook case

A sleeve is the most convenient and reliable way of keeping hold of a netbook. Netbooks are so small that, once in a sleeve, they can be put away in almost any briefcase and not burden the user much. The Kensington reversible sleeve is very good quality and has been reduced recently to a very low price, which makes it by far the most logical choice.

One suggestion would be to combine this with a Samsonite briefcase or similar, which would allow for easily moving documents and a netbook. University students making their way to lectures are particularly fond of this kind of combination.

#PRODUCT: Citizen #drone warfare

Some of us firmly believe that technology has turned away from empowering regimes against their citizens, and now empowers citizens against their regimes.

The best-known case of citizens taking advantage of technology to outmaneuver the state is information technology. People are now more informed about the world and politics and less likely to fall for propaganda. They have more influence as writers or as activists, as represented by the global affinity group known as Anonymous.

Government surveillance is everywhere, but ordinary people can use much of the same vulnerability against their regimes. Many activists and bystanders can make use of their mobile phones to record police abuse, or to record evidence of officials behaving unacceptably.

Insiders within regimes can easily leak information about their government’s criminal behavior, as Edward Snowden did, thanks to simple devices such as memory sticks. In many ways, digital technology has done a lot more to make governments transparent and give citizens new rights and means of expression than it is often credited for. Indeed, there is an argument to be made that the overwhelming direction of technology is towards liberating the people and making them uncontrollable rather than making them easier to control.

One advantage that governments have is drones. While large unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are being used as platforms for the assassination of political targets in their homes by the US government in Pakistan and Yemen, they have not been used as combat weapons.

The assassination role of the drone weapons troubles many dissidents and bystanders in the Western World itself, and a newer phenomenon that people increasingly fear is the use of smaller drones. Some future drones may be as small as insects, and could be used for espionage or even assassination. However, this is where the advantage shifts away from regimes and towards ordinary citizens. The smaller the technology, the easier it is to be captured and used by citizens as a self-defense tool, and the easier it is for comparable technology to end up easily available on the market.

Right now, the Parrot A. R. Drone fits this description. Available to be bought at a relatively affordable price and used for surveillance by its users, it can be operated by smartphone and is equipped with a high definition video camera. In theory, it could be used by activists to help coordinate protest actions, gather information on police tactics, and record evidence of police brutality during such events.

There are likely to emerge many other technologies in the works that dissidents can use to broaden their options against their regimes. The present availability of surveillance drones to the public makes it more important to explore their possibilities, and the possibilities of other products for the purpose of strengthening each individual’s own civil and political rights.

Gordon Rowlinson contributes to Quantum Muse, where his works are frequent and among the very best there.
#3 OUTRUNNING THE STORM by Michele Dutcher tells of a world where baseline humans, clones, AIs, and tweaks will compete to claim their place in a social order ruled over by super-corporations. #5 SEARCH BEYOND: FIRST ANTHOLOGY by Harry J. Bentham is a collection of individual science fiction stories about a starship banished forever from Earth and lost in deep space. We find a universe with scarcely any interesting alien life to boast of, yet we can still scrape adventures from the depths of a mysterious universe paralleled only by the enigma of humanity’s own hyper-evolved technologies. Harry J. Bentham is a futurist adviser at the Lifeboat Foundation think tank, where he takes part in some of the defining conversations on emerging tech, and he is also a sci-fi writer with stories at publications including Quantum Muse.
To find other little-known sci-fi and fantasy authors trying to build their readership, visit www.quantummuse.com and discover the work featured there. In this golden age of indie book publishing, there is no reason at all to restrict ourselves to only reading the authors reviewed at the NYT!

#PRODUCT: Best and cheapest flashlight torch on @Amazon?

Whether you are caught in a power cut or trekking in the night and exploring abandoned buildings (like we all know you do), there are three things that everyone looks for in a good flashlight and exponentially improving technology is here to help you.

1, lighter and smaller is best. 2, nobody wants the torch to empty the battery too quickly, or get dim as the battery is drained. 3, it should be durable.

Now that we know what we want, let us go through the best options found by CLUBOF.INFO at Amazon.

#3: UltraFire Cree

Equipped with 5 different modes and extremely bright, this torch will light up the whole place with blazing white LEDs, thus keeping night terrors away and helping you sleep at night. Its fantastic design can allow you to spot wildlife even 200 yards away in the dark, provided of course that you zoom the beam. In fact, this is bright enough that you should take care to keep it out of reach of kids, or they might be burning your retinas when you next look in their direction.

The UltraFire works effectively with just 3 AAA batteries. Its five modes include strobe light mode, and all reviews show that it is very easy to use. Reviewers say it is a good choice for camping and any other situations where a bright light might come in handy. Reasonably priced, this is one of the best options that can be recommended on Amazon.

Click for a closer view at Amazon, if you want to try this out.

#2: ProTac HL

With specifications showing that it has 600 lumens of blinding light and 253 meters of beam distance, the ProTac HL is the brightest in the ProTac series. It is advertised to offer the latest in power LED technology, and three different selectable programs that are entirely up to the user. Thanks to its unique technology, this is “one of the brightest tactical personal carry lights for its size”. It is recommended for “law enforcement, security, emergency medical services, sporting goods, hardware/tool, and consumer use.

Satisfied? Click to view at Amazon.

#1: Mini Cree

Now this is a lot of light from such a tiny device. CLUBOF.INFO sees this as the best option for just about any average user, offering a compelling combination of all three features you most want in a flashlight torch. In fact, I might just add this to my own basket right now (it has been reduced from $35.48 to $3.18 recently.)

This option brings you super mini size and a bright, blinding effect. The Mini Cree has a durable design and is waterproof. Still capable of remarkable power despite its tiny size, its output can come to a maximum of 300 lumens. It has an adjustable focus range for different usage, stretching to adjust its focus. Just pull the head of the flashlight, and it extends to adjust the zoom. This torch will utilize its batteries to the maximum, wasting nothing. It is suitable for everything from hunting to just about any emergency situation.

Above all, the Mini Cree is cost-effective, light, tiny and extremely powerful.

Just click through to get this cute, tiny flashlight.

#PRODUCT: 'I speak things into creation': everyone is #talking instead of #typing

In the near future, we might all have affordable hardware to transform our very thoughts to words on our screens. However, much of human thinking is bound up in the act of speaking or performing a task, so verbal interfaces may already be the more “advanced” option.

Writing and communicating verbally, being such an important part of human evolution, may significantly assist people, as they evaluate what they are saying and doing as it happens and thus improve the final creation. For this reason, it is possible that verbal interfaces are already destined to be more effective than brain-machine interfaces.

Does science fiction predict the best possible (and impossible) technology?

Science fiction works seem to have fantasized about the spread of touch-sensitive screens and verbal interfaces for computers long before these technologies became a reality. In the Star Trek series and its offshoots, for example, the protagonists commonly speak to the starship’s computer or use touch-sensitive screens. These may have inspired the real thing, as they were conceived as science fiction before they became science fact.

If fantasies about the (then) impossible have led to people imagining verbal control over computers and the spread of touch-sensitive screens, is it possible that these things represent a kind of optimum, and anything further may just be impractical? If so, the verbal interfaces and touch screens being adopted in recent years could be with humanity for centuries and stay largely unchanged.

Life is getting better

Talking text into creation is getting easier and more affordable all the time, and there is a reason why more and more people are using it. Just try out Dragon NaturallySpeaking Home 12.0, English, a cost-effective way of truly bringing your voice into your writing. Dragon does this with a greater level of recognition and accuracy than any other program before it.

Although people often turn to this option due to an injury or disability affecting their ability to use the keyboard, the program is also an effective method for others. All hands get tired on keyboards, and many people are far better at talking than they are at typing.

Speaking your words into your document can aid your task magnificently if you are drafting a rough outline of, say, an essay or story. If you have a lot of work to do, you may find it easier to “talk up” a rough plan of your work first, and then add flesh and increase the detail in your document later.

If you are struggling with “writer’s block”, don’t write. Just talk, because talking is so much easier and more natural a task to start than writing.

Could mind-reading appliances be dangerous?

A lot of what humans do is based on teamwork, where understanding the other person’s actions is key to being able to help them. Verbally interacting with machines might be especially effective if you are working with others, as people can then perceive one another’s actions accurately as they occur, and make suggestions or amendments.

This is one area in which future mind-reading appliances could possibly be at fault. If you were, for example, controlling a vehicle or typing a document with your mind, others on your team would be less available to see your mistakes and recommend changes. If it is a vehicle, for example an aircraft, the stakes are very high, so flight could likely never be entrusted to someone’s thoughts.

Speaking and touching are more natural tasks than typing or writing, and all of these are more natural tasks than simply thinking things into creation via the brain-machine interfaces that are becoming increasingly possible. As the path of extraordinary innovation continues, more questions and dilemmas with social consequences are bound to emerge and capture our attention.

Emerging Tech Promises from Kurzweil, Drexler and Venter Et Al.

Brilliant predictions for the biotech century are found in works from the leading geniuses of our time. Included among such great thinkers are Ray Kurzweil (AI), K. Eric Drexler (nanotech) and J. Craig Venter (synthetic biology). Understandably, their books can be time-consuming for the layman, on account of their mostly scientific audiences. This is where concise and informative book reviews summarizing the main claims of such works come in (with page references included, for those of you who want to mount effective arguments based on these authors without taking notes from their extensive books).

The impending choices society will be forced to make, as a result of world-altering technologies, will affect us all. They will render the collective choices arising with respect to the internet and state mass surveillance insignificant. Consequences of nanotech (atomically precise manufacturing or APM), synthetic biology and artificial intelligence shake the assumptions of modern politics and economics. For this, we are being compelled to prepare and build.

The most cost-effective way of getting to know the key controversies and arguments on emerging technology is to read condensed reviews and responses to the defining points in the most important books on the subject:
My freshly released eBook, Unlocked, is a condensed public domain Kindle release with reviews and materials responding to emerging technology promises. These reviews echoed across the internet from 2013-2014, and were especially useful because they addressed and criticized each major point in the books. With accurate page references included, everyone is encouraged to re-use this resource to produce their own arguments and essays.
From James Hughes' Citizen Cyborg (2004) to Ray Kurzweil's The Singularity is Near (2005), Unlocked reviews a total of 8 very extensive works by emerging technology geniuses.

Exciting technological choices awaiting civilization are understood through the vision of the pioneers who represent them. Through these visions, dreams and nightmares of things to come will advise us. However, it is unwise to focus entirely on scifi interpretations (as Ray Kurzweil's singularity could be described as). There are also refined, accurate estimates of the future. Drexler, for example, cautions against the scifi trope of microscopic nanorobots everywhere, healing our bodies and and repairing our machines. The real APM (atomically precise manufacturing) would take the form of garage-sized car factories and desktop-scale stores to download and assemble household appliances. Combined with synthetic biology's potential to make energy and resources, the possibilities of this revolution in information and the search to enhance life are limitless.
