Garrison Center takes WikiLeaks side

Director of the Garrison Center for Libertarian Advocacy Journalism Thomas Knapp took the side of WikiLeaks, in a recent small disagreement over Twitter between WikiLeaks and NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.


Penning a tweet on 28 July, Edward Snowden had commented WikiLeaks should be more vigilant at withholding damaging information when leaking sensitive material relating to world events. "Their hostility to even modest curation is a mistake", Snowden wrote.

WikiLeaks editor Julian Assange had in the past talked of WikiLeaks' curation in terms such as his remark "It disturbs me that we are redacting at all" (When Google Met WikiLeaks). Assange has believed control of information, for good or ill, should be completely stripped from states or large publishing houses and restored to the public.

Edward Snowden, by contrast, has tended to rely more on large publishers such as the Guardian and famous journalist Glenn Greenwald to carefully redact anything damaging. Snowden himself was the arbiter of what data would be harmful and what would legitimately benefit the public during his own leak of the NSA's PRISM mass surveillance programs.

The Garrison Center director, for his part, rejected the idea that any curation is necessary. Siding with WikiLeaks, Knapp pointed out that any type of redaction manifests state-like power to pull the wool over the public's eyes. He wrote on 29 July, "They [Snowden and friends]’re merely parceling out the information THEY’VE decided it’s OK for the public to have. But the the NSA and the US State Department do the same thing. Snowden and friends differ from those organizations merely on content selection criteria, not on the principles involved."

Knapp declared continued support to Edward Snowden as an exile persecuted by the US regime, but concluded, "Wikileaks is right and Snowden is wrong here".

Criminal tries to become US President

In an obvious attempt to prop up war criminal sadist Hillary Clinton's disgraceful campaign to become US President, the US State Department seeks to delay disclosure of documents related to her conduct as Secretary of State.


Hillary Clinton used a private email address during her reign as Secretary of State - a reign that saw her deep personal involvement in US interference and war crimes in both Libya and Syria. Not soon before, she had been a big fan of the US invasion of Iraq, never shy of sacrificing American soldiers on the altar of stupid idols and lies.

 The use of a private email address alone was sufficient grounds for a public servant to be sacked and permanently barred from office, yet the criminal was allowed to campaign to be President. The criminal remains the only major candidate to have ever been under investigation by hundreds of FBI officers while continuing to campaign for leadership of a nation.

Also during Hillary Clinton's role as top US diplomat, US embassy staff stationed at Benghazi, Libya, were left defenseless, attacked and assassinated.

Overall, commentators recognize Clinton's role in Libya from start to finish to be a disaster. The war itself was a mistake. US President Barack Obama has admitted the US-led intervention in Libya - in which Clinton helped to kill thousands of women and children to ensure a divided and broken regime would replace ousted dictator Gaddafi - was the greatest mistake he made. Clinton went on to start a failed revolution in Syria similar to the civil war in Libya, with the goal of killing an anti-US leader.

Clinton's grand vision for her future as President consists of civil wars, assassinations, dead soldiers, a nuclear contest with Russia, and a strong stance against victims of pedophilia.


The US government has requested a 27 month delay in the release of emails related to Clinton's crimes and negligence, to keep voters from being able to see the extent of her deranged behavior and the danger it presents to the American people. Another government excuse even claimed "it could take at least 75 years to compile emails from a handful of Clinton’s aides" as reported at TheHill.

US neocons demand aggression on Syria

High-ranking neocons and other war criminals within the US regime have demanded a new US bombing campaign, this time directly against Syrian and Russian forces based in Syria.


Apparently showing no grasp of the costs of war with Russia, extremists working in the US State Department tried to lie that a US attack against Syrian and Russian forces advancing rapidly against ISIS is actually the "only way to defeat ISIS".

 A still classified memo explaining the extremists' logic for starting a war with Syria and Russia might have offered more insights into how desperate, confused and divided the American regime has become. If not classified, the memo would also have helped demonstrate the pace at which the US regime's forces are being defeated and proving inadequate for the regime's once-high ambitions of dominating the world by force.

Although the demands of these world war-inciting extremists are likely to be ignored by the Obama administration, Hillary Clinton shares their unhinged and unrealistic view of war with Syria and Russia. Continuing to call for a "no-fly zone", the term she used for her earlier war crimes in Libya, bloodthirsty Clinton thinks Russian special forces, warplanes and missiles will fail to stop her killing more people after her coronation in a hollow election.

WikiLeaks hinted over Twitter that the State Department is likely to fully support Clinton's war aims in Syria if she becomes President. The Pentagon is likely to have a more accurate view of what may happen if US forces try to attack Russian personnel.

Clinton to be "forced to resign" if elected

Writing at OpEdNews recently, the Garrison Center's Thomas L. Knapp launched criticisms of US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.


Noting the scandal surrounding Clinton's use of a private email address while working as US Secretary of State, Knapp suggested it is possible Clinton will face prosecution even if she is elected as President. If winning the top job doesn't shield her from the sword of justice, she could be forced to resign shortly thereafter.

 This is an example of how serious breaches of security - no matter how petty these seem for a name as big as Hillary Clinton's - should be taken into account by voters.

147 FBI agents are presently investigating Clinton's use of a private email address for state purposes. Prosecution is not off the table. In view of this, Knapp asks, "Do Democrats really want to go all in on Hillary Clinton’s narcissistic sense of self-entitlement, especially when it’s looking more and more likely that the next card the dealer turns up will be grand jury indictments?"

The scandal surrounding Clinton's emails cannot be underestimated, despite how dismissive she and her supporters have been of it. "Even if Clinton herself escapes prosecution, it’s worth remembering that Richard Nixon was never indicted either, but was forced to resign after several of his closest aides were", Knapp warns US voters in the post at the Garrison Center.

Also worth considering is that, while this reckless use of a private email address may seem a minor infraction by someone as high up as Secretary of State when the offense is reported to the public, it is sufficient grounds to get any other civil servant sacked and barred from the job. Any government worker will tell you so.

Why should a presidential candidate be excluded from the penalties applied to other government workers or job candidates? Arguably, the most important job in the United States needs to exercise even harsher penalties against candidates than all the lower jobs in government departments - not let people off just because their name seems too big to be prosecuted.

John Kirby hates "tough questions"

US State Department spokesman John Kirby refused "tough questions" from a Russian journalist and returned several questions angrily during a press conference.


During the press conference, Kirby was asked questions by the RT (Russia Today) network’s Gayane Chichakyan, who asked if the Iraqi government should have no concern over the US refusing responsibility for settling divisions in the so-called coalition against ISIL.

  • State Dept: US leads a 60-nation coalition
  • State Dept: US not responsible for coalition members and disputes, they work bilaterally

While at the same time bragging about the size and scope of the US-led campaign against ISIL, Kirby kept saying the US does not take responsibility for the actions of these forces and they must resolve any of their own problems bilaterally. The Russian journalist's apparently too "tough" and unanswerable question was a follow-up question to that apparent contradiction in Kirby's points.

Rather than answering the question, Kirby tried to insult Chichakyan on the air and condemn the RT network for asking "difficult questions". Kirby pointed out that RT does not pose this type of question to the Russian government's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), as if this indicated double standards in the network's reporting. This is despite the clear difference that Russia is not offering arrogant propositions to lead 60-nation coalitions or trying to dominate the world - behavior that at least requires RT to ask a few more challenging questions.



The questions Kirby would like RT's Gayane Chichakyan to ask of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were never mentioned. However, Russia's MFA has openly asked the State Department itself to pose any questions for it to answer. The State Department refused that opportunity, feeling it better to imagine and speculate about Russians than talk to them.

This arrogant refusal to listen to the Russians and desire to ignore them may be why the US strategy in Syria has proven such a failure while the Russian strategy is succeeding.

It does not occur to Kirby that the reason Russia is not being asked "tough questions" of the variety asked by Chichakyan is because no one has tried. Kirby instead insinuates another explanation: Russian diplomats escape tough questions by getting RT and other Russian media to screen them out. There is no evidence of that behavior by the Russians, but there is evidence of the State Department hiding from tough questions. Just look at John Kirby himself.

The Assad chemical attack lie again?

Commentators are returning to lying about Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad using chemical weapons on his people.


This lie was already attempted and debunked in a 2013 debacle, now known as an abortive US-British attempt to preach excuses to attack Syria using Iraq-style disinformation to mislead the public again.

The L'Ordre blog took aim at this horrendous new campaign of disinformation in a recent post on Saturday, stating, "It was no secret that the US State Department believes the American people are so stupid that they will fall for the same lie every ten years after forgetting the previous one. It was not known that they believed the American people to have the memory of a fish."

The blog further alleged that Syrian rebels are to blame for the intractability of the conflict, as they are desperate to seize power and rely completely on foreign support to continue the war. It is also unlikely that a rebel "victory" in Damascus would end the war at all, and would likely only be the prelude to an even more violent conflict in the already flattened country.

Describing the Syrian rebels as "sore losers" in their battle against Assad, the blog gave a dark prediction of what would happen to Syria without Assad at the helm:
"The end they have in mind is what happened in Libya – a gungho US-led war based on sketchy evidence that eventually leads to Western leaders posing in the war-torn country with terrorists, dirt-bags and dictators while claiming that democracy has been served, before promptly evacuating their staff from the country and leaving it to drown in its own blood as the civil war continues.
