Raqqa compared with Battle for Berlin

The Blog

The "capital" of ISIS in Syria is being approached rapidly by the opposing forces of the Russian-led and US-led led coalitions in the country.

With both sides eager to be the first to claim total victory over the bloodthirsty terrorists and executioners, the developing battle has been compared with the Battle for Berlin in 1945.

In the closing days of World War 2 in Europe, forces aligned with the United States and Soviet Union approached the Nazi German capital of Berlin from west and east, respectively. The ultimate victory finally went to the Soviet Union, who proved far more determined to take the German capital even despite great sacrifices of men and materiel.

One analysis posted to Fort Russ on 11 June notes that while US-backed Kurdish Peshmerga forces have held positions close to the ISIS terror capital for a longer period than the Russian-backed Syrian Army, recent gains by the latter have been astonishingly rapid.

US-aligned forces have been almost constantly positioned about 40 kilometers from Raqqa. On the other side, al-Masdar News reports that in a mere two weeks the Syrians and their Russian allies pushed a fresh 80 kilometers towards the city and obtained a similarly proximate position, threatening to take it first.

As explained by the Fort Russ report, the capture of Raqqa would be a devastating defeat to ISIS. "A successful storm of the city would show that the “Caliphate” can’t even keep what it has proclaimed to be its own home", the blog noted.

Emphasizing the comparison between the Battle for Raqqa and the race towards Berlin in 1945, the Fort Russ blog stated, "In both cases, the position of Moscow was more altruistic and constructive, while Washington’s was cynical".

This latter point in the post may be a reference to the US's belief that fascists and terrorists are worth supporting and consorting with if they will interfere in the progress of Russia and its allies. Such behavior has been spotted in US and western policy supporting not only terrorists in Syria but also nationalists in Ukraine.

Arab Spring as a violent failure in Syria

The Blog

Reflecting on the Syrian Civil War, now in the final stages with defeat looming for all the armed factions except the Syrian government and the Kurds, Zena Chamas wrote about the fate of the so-called Arab Spring.

With the exception of Tunisia, the Arab Spring simply didn't really bring changes in the Arab world and can be considered a failure, the journalist noted in a recent post.

In Egypt, the result of the Arab Spring was the ousting of dictator Hosni Mubarak, but the joy lasted very shortly before the new ruler Mohammed Morsi began to suppress dissent, and was himself overthrown after popular demonstrations culminated in a coup. The new ruler, President Sisi, comes from the same clique of generals to which Mubarak belonged, establishing himself as a dictator and simply continuing Mubarak's legacy. In the end, Egypt showed that it simply lacks any democratic candidate to rule and is only capable of being the domain of one dictator or another.

Syria was an even worse failure, with "rebels" quickly degenerating into vicious terrorists eager to abduct and murder the very same western journalists who supported them when they first took up arms against Bashar al-Assad's so-called "tyranny". In reality, as Zena Chamas implies, the "revolution" in Syria was violent and abortive from the beginning, just as driven by a goal to force the Syrian people into submission as any dictatorship. The losers of the conflict, once again, are simply the common people, who lack any credible person to construct a democracy for them.

Left out of this analysis is Libya, which is possibly the worst failure of all, although US State Department head Hillary Clinton was obsessed with the carnage in the country as her greatest victory. Today, Libya is still in a civil war, largely thanks to Clinton and her hatred of Gaddafi, which came at great expense to the Libyan people in the end.

Also noted is the fact the Arab Spring was an American phrase in the first place. At all times, the US propped up fake uprisings and repeatedly tried to install Americans (exiles who had lived in America for decades) as the democratic representatives of the people of Syria, Libya and other countries.

As good as democracy can be in theory, it cannot be imposed on other societies by force or propped up by the CIA. It can never be upheld by the deceptive and blatantly fake democracy of the US.

#JusticeForKurds petition after Cizre

The Blog

Driven by moral outrage, satellite television channel RT has come forward with a rare petition calling on the UN Human Rights Council to investigate mass killings committed by the Turkish regime against Kurds in Cizre, Turkey.

It seems unusual for a television station to take the activist step of starting a hashtag-powered petition in this manner, but RT journalists seem to have been morally motivated by what they saw. The Turkish regime's terrorism has deliberately taken the lives of women and children in Kurdish-populated parts of Turkey, while Turkey continues to give fire support the ISIS against its opponents in northern Syria. The #JusticeForKurds petition is just an apt reaction to such crimes.

From the text of the petition at Change.org:
RT traveled to Cizre to get first-hand accounts from witnesses.  They showed us the site of the alleged mass killing.  RT filmed the destroyed buildings, including blood stains on the debris, and shell casings.  A witness told us that among the victims were women, and children as young as ten years old.
The #JusticeForKurds petition, which is worded in multiple languages, has already gained well over 10,000 signatures in the time it has been available to internet users. RT's #JusticeForKurds plea notes that US-led civil society groups like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch paid no attention to the Turkish regime's terrorism against Kurds, prompting the television station itself to take action.

This may be due to the fact that Amnesty and HRW, being pro-US and pro-NATO henchmen who fabricate propaganda against Washington's enemies, are only helping terrorism by the Turkish regime against its opponents.

Anti-Assad forces losing and desperate

The Blog

Different analysts are of the view that the rebel groups opposing the Bashar al-Assad government in Syria are losing the war.

The view is also supported by the foreign policy comments and behaviors of Saudi Arabia and its allies, who have backed these insurgent groups in Syria for years. Desperate threats to invade Syria with foreign national armies are the result of the proxy war's impending failure.

Syria's government responded to Saudi Arabia's aggressive posturing and threats of an invasion of Syria by promising to send any aggressor back in a "wooden coffin". Although doubting a Saudi invasion is a realistic possibility, the Syrian Foreign Minister called the Saudi leadership "crazy" and said nothing is impossible in their minds.

Throughout the conflict, countries aiming to take control of Syria have usually hidden behind the so-called political "opposition" against Bashar al-Assad, claiming they are only interested in democracy, until now. At this point,  masks seem to have dropped and various dictators are lining up to invade Syria for their own selfish interests, proving what the conflict was about all along. Such dictators include the corrupt murderer Erdogan in Turkey, who is also accused of massacring Kurds and supporting ISIL terrorists.

Earlier report: Syria "peace deal" meaningless

Dismissing the Saudi leadership as cowards who would not fulfill their promise of an invasion, an Iranian military commander noted that such an invasion would be "suicide" and Saudi Arabia will certainly be defeated if its troops try to occupy Syria. A Saudi-led coalition has already been waging an unsuccessful war to punish Yemen after a pro-Saudi ruler was driven out of the country.

During their war, the Saudis have lost many troops and failed to accomplish any of their objectives. Their own territory has even been invaded and bombarded heavily by Yemen, as the poorest country in the Middle East (Yemen) manages to humiliate the wealthiest one.

A post at Beliefnet comments on the desperation of the anti-Assad forces in Syria, noting, "Really, they just want more weapons from foreign countries, and to ask other countries to invade and reinforce them." The post was rejecting the peace talks on the grounds that they are just trying to take pressure off Western-backed terrorists and enable them to continue their massacres of the Syrian people.

"Refugee crisis", anti-Syria propaganda

The Blog

The so-called refugee crisis affecting Europe, as Syrians flee the war zone created by Western states supporting a violent "transition" to fake democracy in their country, is not sudden or unexpected. As one columnist argues, it is deliberate and coordinated propaganda.

According to Steve Topple, writing at Middle East Monitor (MEM) at the very end of September, the supposed crisis may be "stage-managed" to justify more Western involvement in the Syrian Civil War. This involvement is ultimately aiming to remove President Bashar al-Assad from power, which the United States has been attempting to achieve since 2006.

In essence, Western countries have deliberately and maliciously created the refugee "problem" they are now swooping into action to solve. Facts show that only a fraction of the refugees are Syrian and that many others come from other regions affected by US-led Western wars to spread fake democracy in the Islamic world.

Western leaders have portrayed the cause of the refugee problem as ISIL (ISIS, Islamic State, Daesh), rather than Western support for terrorism in Syria, thus suggesting ISIL is their main target, but the real goal of all Western involvement in Syria is to remove the government of Bashar al-Assad. Topple refers to the Wikileaks document exposing how such 'regime change' was US policy throughout the entire crisis and even earlier in 2006.

While UK Prime Minister David Cameron has cried crocodile tears with his statements in the media for Aylan Kurdi (pictured), a Syrian refugee boy who washed up on European shores after drowning in an attempt to reach the continent, "megalomaniac" Turkish President Erdogan does nothing to help the refugees. Erdogan's main goal has instead been to enlarge his tiny "no-fly zone" in the north of Syria, which he sees as a great military conquest over Syria and the Kurds by Turkey.

Topple pointed out that the so-called "Friends of Syria", which includes the Erdogan regime, are cynical devotees of the war in Syria and have no compassion for the Syrian people, supplying nothing but weapons into the embattled country.

War has raged in Syria since Western governments started the Civil War in the country in 2011 to remove President Bashar al-Assad from power. Since that time, these governments have used every channel to lie about the existence of non-extremist armed militants fighting the government, while allowing weapon supplies to reach ISIL and other Takfiri extremists fighting Assad's forces.

Syria Kurds being "used", or using you?

The Blog

Turkey, the US and the Kurdish people have differing goals in Syria, with the US trying to recruit the Kurds against ISIL and the Turks trying to recruit the US against the Kurds.

In the middle of all this is also an odd (alleged) attempt by Israel to develop some kind of treacherous alliance with the Kurdish people against Iran (a longtime friend of the Kurdish people). If true, this would itself clash with both the interests of the US and Turkey in Iraq and Syria and make the situation even more complicated.

Commenting on this controversy, the Wave Chronicle stated that the Kurdish people are being "played as pawns" by Israel, the United States and Turkey (a NATO member).

While many countries including the US claim to have recruited the Kurdish people for their own agenda, the main priority of the Kurdish fighters has consistently been to defend their historic homeland in parts of Syria, Iraq and Turkey. While anti-Assad fighters in Syria claim that the Kurds will help them remove Assad from power, so far the Kurds have shown no deviation from their original goal of defending their homeland from anyone who tries to interfere with their national goals.
