'Jews have no duty to support Israel'

The Blog

Quotes from Jewish anti-Zionist blogger Thalwen's recent post, "The importance of being earnest":

"If no country is above the law and we must not hold Israel to double standards then it cannot be held to a double standard here. It cannot be given the right to violate basic human rights and to oppress a people [with] impunity – whether intervention takes the form of economic sanctions, military involvement or political pressure – impunity must end."

On Elie Wiesel and Zionism

"people like Wiesel want to take the Holocaust out of its context and that’s a shame. They vowed “never again,” so far, “again” has happened again and again and we have learned nothing."

On Israeli settlement-building

"The only thing they are doing is building more Palestinian and Jewish graves. Until the Israelis learn to love their children more than they hate Palestinians and covet their land, there will be no peace."

On BDS, and the criticisms of BDS campaigners

"The thing all of us have in common is that we see that Israel is doing great harm to the Palestinian people, and to itself. If that makes us horrible people, well, then being a horrible person isn’t so bad."

On America, greatness and patriotism

"If America is ever going to be great, then we have to acknowledge our wrongs and we have to fix them."

On the idea that all Jews should be loyal to Israel

"The idea that Judaism or Jewish identity comes with support for a criminal apartheid state is as illegitimate as saying that Christianity comes with hate for LGBT, or Islam comes with support for ISIS."

Israel tries to drag Facebook into war?

The Blog

From the Garrison Center on 11 July 2016, reacting to a recent news story from 10 July 2016:

"On July 10, [Shurat HaDin, Israel Law Center] filed a federal lawsuit on alleged behalf of the families of five Americans (one American tourist and four Israeli-American dual citizens) killed in attacks which the suit blames on Hamas, the Islamist organization governing Palestine’s Gaza Strip area. Facebook, the suit alleges, assists Hamas (in violation of the US Anti-Terrorism Act) in “recruiting, radicalizing, and instructing terrorists, raising funds, creating fear and carrying out attacks.”

"The suit seeks to punish Facebook to the tune of $1 billion for failure to censor public communications of which the Israeli government disapproves."

From Garrison Center Director Thomas Knapp's analysis and remarks on the story:

"As I previously mentioned, Shurat Hadin characterizes itself as a non-governmental organization. In reality, it seems to at the very least serve as a front for, and quite possibly to function as a de facto litigation arm of, the Israeli state...

"The US government has no business involving itself in the conflict between Israel and Hamas — nor should the  US courts allow Shurat HaDin to turn Facebook and other US firms into collateral damage in that conflict."

Clinton campaign nuked by WikiLeaks

The Blog

Despite much of the political left deciding to endorse Hillary Clinton amidst exaggerated campaign rhetoric against Donald Trump, WikiLeaks hasn't held back from striking out at Clinton.

In June, WikiLeaks editor and political prisoner Julian Assange promised "enough evidence to indict" Clinton, relating to her emails.

This has been followed by WikiLeaks releasing emails to and from Clinton related to the situation in Iraq. Clinton voted in favor of the Iraq War in 2003, as well as being in favor of other military interventions. She was the main criminal responsible for the disastrous NATO aggression in Libya, which plunged the country in chaos and murder and was later described by Obama as the worst mistake of his career.

During her time as Secretary of State, Clinton also was largely responsible for decisions to escalate the conflict in Syria by illegally smuggling weapons into the conflict zone. This, she wrote in an email, was necessary to help the Israeli regime maintain security during its policies of genocide, apartheid and expansion.

Clinton continues to favor direct US military strikes on Syrian government targets, despite them being protected by Russian military forces and being the main ground opponents of ISIS.

India's Zionist settler tactics in Kashmir

The Blog

A report printed in the magazine Voice of East points out the "aggressive policies of [the] government of India to change the demography of [the] state [of Kashmir]".

Altaf Hussain Wani, a human rights activist for the Indian-annexed territory of Jammu and Kashmir, is quoted stating, "People under foreign occupation have not only been deprived of their political rights but also social, cultural and economic rights".

The report termed India's foreign policy as being based on a "colonial mindset". Indeed, much of India's behavior has included colonial military occupation and suppression of the many minorities and different nations India claims to rule over. This scandal occurs while India portrays itself as a modernized democracy and consorts with western powers.

Poverty is used by India to inflict misery on the people it attempts to rule over. As the Voice of East report stated, "Indian-occupied Kashmir is one of the regions, where Indian state has failed to respect its international obligations to frame policies to eliminate poverty". India's policy has been to "grab the land of state subjects and render them landless" as the Indian regime works to re-engineer demographic balances to suit its power goals.

Evidence of India's re-engineering of the population to assert its power lies in the way "occupation forces have already occupied 1,000,000 of acres of [agricultural] land". In addition, India is "planning to construct colonies for retired Indian army persons [and] homeless Indians in Kashmir valley".

Occupying powers including Zionist Israel have a long history of building their colonies on occupied territories to change "facts on the ground" to justify their rule on so-called democratic grounds. When such efforts succeed, the result is often deemed to be genocide because it entailed destruction of the indigenous people.

UK war hero declares war on schoolgirl

The Blog

British "Colonel" Richard Kemp, who portrayed himself as a war hero and great military commander to have any relevance, has been caught in a diatribe on Twitter trying to incite hatred against a 15 year old girl.

Anger against Leanne Mohamad for winning a school prize produced not just one, but four tweets all by the so-called Colonel "RICHARD KEMP", who capitalizes his user name like an evangelical crank, hoping to rally condemnation of her. The pro-Israel media slob accused the young girl of "anti-Semitic lies".

Pro-Palestine blogger Thalwen commented that Leanne's only crime was "hoping for freedom" for her people from the barbarism of the Israeli military occupation.

Kemp additonally promoted a video by a pro-Israel vlogger, who issued blatant lies that Leanne's speech in favor of human rights amounted to "an ISIS recruiting video" for siding with Palestinian Arabs and opposing Zionist killers.

While it is creepy enough that a so-called Colonel would want to intervene in a school competition and incite hatred against a child, more disturbing is the way other Zionist fanatics reacted to Leanne. One Zionist cries out that Leanne is "evil" and must be "vigorously condemned and punished"; another racist tweets that all the minority "Muslim filth" in the UK are to blame and longs to "bring on the civil war".

Thanks to smears by far right bigots, racists, and Israeli worms like Kemp who pretend to be British while defending foreign war criminals, the school did in fact censor Leanne, providing another victory over a child for cowards everywhere to revel in.

Although he tries to to portray himself as an impartial military professional in his relations with the media, most of Kemp's time is taken up accusing the media of bias against Israel and trying to come up with reasons why it was okay for Israel to kill kids. With his latest attack on a child, it is also questionable that the overweight and dimwitted 57 year old has any military experience other than trying to prop up the Israeli regime's reputation in the media.

Labour's anti-State of Israel scandal

The Blog

The L'Ordre blog based at Beliefnet comments on the recent so-called anti-Semitism scandal creating controversy in British politics.

This anti-Semitism scandal relates to comments by Labour Party members about Israel, and the view that Israel is responsible for conflict in the Middle East. Not tolerating this view, some MPs within the Opposition are responding with vicious rhetoric against anyone - including all British Muslims - who consider Israel guilty of war crimes in the Middle East.

From the blog on Saturday:
To ban boycotts and stifle criticism of Israel in Britain’s democracy... would be against diversity... and will destabilize British society, even creating escalating violence in coming decades. It is also likely that the Muslim population will then grow in even greater isolation from politics, while believers in “democracy” shrink, during such a period. Faith in democracy will be lost, and, once censored and prohibited from the democratic Opposition, youths will be more likely to choose the path of violence rather than debate.
Read more at http://www.beliefnet.com/columnists/lordre/2016/05/cracks-in-british-society-due-to-israel-or-muslims.html#Gca07CAUijpLO2PE.99
The post notes the views of Security Studies scholars that countering extremism depends more on making people feel included and making the political process work rather than excluding, ostracizing and banning minorities for their feelings about political issues. In view of this, the idea that extremism is to be countered by suspensions, bans and other crackdowns on anti-Israel views in the Labour Party is "the worst move ever".

In fact, the post argues for opposite measures to be taken, compared with what the Labour Party seems to be doing now. "Allow the minorities to find expression, give them a greater platform in Britain and a role in governing the country", the blog says.

'Anti-Trumpism' over the top: academic

The Blog

Writing in a commentary at the start of April, left wing historical social scientist Immanuel Wallerstein wrote that the rhetoric against US presidential candidate Donald Trump is highly exaggerated, and Trump would not be a "catastrophe" if elected.

Donald Trump is primarily no threat to liberals or the Democratic Party, but to entrenched GOP elites, who are highly distressed by him not committing to their agenda (in fact, Wallerstein believes Trump has no ideological agenda at all, and that's why he is loathed so much). The expected GOP candidates have been cast aside by Trump in the presidential nomination race, losing all hope in their party's support base as it rallies around this loose cannon.

Dismissing any theory about Trump as a menace to human rights, women and other issues of grave concern to liberal commentators, Wallerstein's April 1st analysis, "Anti-Trumpism", points out that Trump seems to retract many statements he makes on controversial subjects. What this means, Wallerstein says, is that Trump actually doesn't care whatsoever about conservative issues such as religion, abortion or immigration. He has no particular agenda at all, although he does appeal to the Republican support base's favorite slogans and ideas with the goal to win.

Extract from the Wallerstein commentary relating to Trump foreign policy:
Look at all the hints he has thrown out about his actual agenda. He does not intend to send troops on the ground anywhere. He does not intend to support so-called free trade treaties. He does not intend to revoke the diplomatic opening to Cuba or the agreement with Iran. He is for a bi-state solution in Israel/Palestine. He will not change Social Security. He... is open to increasing taxes on the truly wealthy.
So while many in the Republican leadership have reasons to fear Trump's wrath if he is triumphant, a Trump Presidency should be of no concern to the political left and possibly even favorable to left wing forces such as the anti-war movement.

The gullibility of ISIS

L'Ordre

ISIL and other primitivist, fatalist groups are easily herded and manipulated by anyone with money.

How can a group apparently so formidable as ISIL be used so easily by its own enemies? Can they not see that they are pawns? Or, do these gullible followers willfully submit themselves as pawns to whatever forces they don't understand? If their sole objective is to prepare themselves as puppets for a god, doesn't this actually prepare them as puppets of men?

The reason for ISIL's proneness to be manipulated and utilized by its own enemies is a fatal flaw in the group's theology. They promote superstition in the extreme. By believing everything is an act of its god, and everyone is a puppet of its god, ISIL does not believe in conspiracies or power politics. It cannot see them, even when confronted directly with them.

Even if it knows its forces, like other militants in Syria, are led by Israeli commanders or treated in Israeli hospitals (as some reports have tentatively stated) ISIL will not believe it is a puppet of anyone but its god. If Netanyahu appears to be supporting ISIL indirectly, ISIL will only believe Netanyahu is a divine instrument helping ISIL. ISIL might even believe Netanyahu is some god or angel sent to protect them.

No god would be acting via Netanyahu or John Kerry to support ISIL's goal to overthrow the Syrian government, as ISIL would believe. Rather, these men are using ISIL. Their goal of overthrowing the Syrian government pre-dates the existence of ISIL, making it clear that ISIL could only be their puppet. ISIL is a puppet of no god, but human military planners.

There is such a thing as having too much faith. There is such a thing as making up too many excuses for one's beliefs. At some point it all degenerates into the extremes of primitivism, superstition, and gullibility. If you keep saying 'they were blinded by the god' to explain all your fortunes in the face of an enemy, it is clear that you have no strategy and that your very leadership has succumbed to gullibility.

Imagine how superstition will wreak havoc in the mind of a military commander. If the other side opens up a corridor for your units to flee on the battlefield, you will believe it is a miracle of your god. If the other side stops their artillery bombardment, you will believe that is a miracle of your god and emerge from the trenches. If your 'far enemy' sends planes to attack your 'near enemy', as the US nearly did in 2013 when it threatened missile strikes on Syrian government forces, this too is a miracle of your god.

At some level, one wonders whether they are worshiping any god, or worshiping their own enemies. Certainly, the real agents behind ISIL's miracles are human, many of them sitting in Washington DC. And what happens when their fortune runs out, when their many enemies really all decide it is time to eradicate them? Will ISIL believe its own destruction is the will of its god? Will all these gullible followers commit suicide, believing it to be their god's plan, when they run out of support from US regional allies like Turkey and Saudi Arabia?

ISIL is so convinced of supernatural intervention on the battlefields that it would accept almost anything as a miracle. This was apparent in some remarks made by ISIL about the Paris attacks. Rather than finding it suspicious that Europe left itself wide open to terrorist attacks by failing to adequately screen out the people the US had been unable to select as "moderate" militants even while they were still in Syria, the ISIL refrain was to say "they were blinded by Allah".

If this is how they explain world events, then this is a group that has no grasp of reality, and absolutely no awareness of power politics or the cynicism behind it all. All of ISIL's successes are man-made. They have been driven not by any god, but by visible trails of money and special interests leading back to the Western regimes and their allies in the Gulf monarchies.

ISIL today is nothing but a plaything of Western foreign policy. However, a group that purports to be the plaything of unseen gods and devils is likely to find no shame even in that fact. It will find a supernatural explanation for everything. It will never see shame in being a hollow puppet of foreign powers, because its theology preaches that everyone should strive to be a hollow puppet of any master they can find.

Without realizing it, the gods worshiped by ISIL are foreign schemers manipulating the group and using it to topple the Syrian government in the civil war. The ones who have been blinded, and even led around on strings as puppets, are the gullible and empty-headed followers of ISIL. Their own blind deference to fate is a confession of this.

To date, ISIL has been praising what it calls a god. What it is really praising is the golden calf of Saudi money, which means ISIL is giving thanks to rich men and hidden cowards when it claims to worship a god. In its gullibility, it sees its gains on the battlefield not as the result of a strategy of omission and willful failure by the US-led coalition, but as evidence that the US-led coalition is confounded and also a puppet of the same god.

Since ISIL is absolutely fatalist and incapable of recognizing human agency in any event in the world, its followers are the perfect puppets. They are enamored by anything they don't understand or cannot see, which means they will revere any congress anywhere scheming to use ISIL to topple the Syrian government.

It is also superstitious to always promote conspiratorial explanations of events, but the likelihood of conspiracy is far greater than the likelihood that ISIL territorial gains were the result of gods and devils intervening in the battlefield as they believe. The gullibility of ISIL and other extremist groups makes them easily herded, easily victims to conspiracies of man. They are incapable of seeing who may be using them, because behind everyone they only see their god.

To ISIL, merchants of death and destruction are messianic figures, doling out enough weapons and gold to buy them.

Topple: deport all bigots, not refugees

The Blog

Op-ed writer Steve Topple has appealed to Europeans to learn their history lessons again before calling for Nazi-like collective measures against refugees fleeing conflict zones such as Syria.

Topple does not hesitate to point out the west is to blame for the war in Syria. The west must make space for refugees, as it must face the consequences of its actions and atone for what it has done.

The post accuses Western societies of ignoring their own hand in creating a crisis for themselves, which they now try to shirk responsibility for by wanting to turn refugees away:
The anti-refugee rhetoric appeared to be systematically ratcheted up in nearly every country across the continent, without the smallest whiff of hypocrisy that the West’s agenda had largely contributed to this man-made crisis.
Elaborating on this responsibility, Topple writes that "Western foreign policy is partly to blame for the situation in the Middle East, which is rapidly spiralling out of control. Decade after decade we have geopolitically been led by our unquenchable thirst for oil and gas, regardless of the consequences." Amidst the hysteria spreading through Europe at the inevitable globalization of displacement and misery caused by western military aggression, many have called for all refugees (with particular emphasis on Muslims) to be deported.

Topple has an alternative suggestion of who deport:
Expatriate all the loathsome, lobotomised right-wing bigots and replace them with refugees.
Because I, for one, would rather we have a diverse, socially-rich, colourful society where the quality of life for everyone was far greater, than an insular, closeted, angry and scared country where the opinions of loathsome, vile bigots whose views belong in a 1970’s sitcom were the norm.
Tackling the specific hysteria of many right wing groups and commentators, Topple strikes back at their assertions:
Oh – and the individuals screaming “Rapefugees!” and “Women and girls aren’t safe!” when discussing refugees after we have just observed Holocaust Memorial Day, may wish to Google “Collective Responsibility” – although I doubt their myopic brains would be able to cope with the resonance.
Although many right-wing figures in the west are obsessed with World War II and the idea of supporting the Israeli apartheid regime to atone for the Holocaust, they are just as interested in committing a new genocide against Muslims. The additional inability to condemn Israeli expansion and ethnic cleansing and to support it, no matter how untenable, shows nothing was really learned from the Holocaust.

Why are the neocons pathological liars?

The Blog

A UK blogger explained in October why the neoconservatives (neocons) are liars.

It's because they follow a political philosophy that overtly justifies a clique of liars and manipulators as the ideal form of government.

Straussian political philosophy, modeled on the ideas of Leo Strauss, is the basis of the ideology responsible for neocon extremism. It is this philosophy that has told them to perpetrate the greatest greatest crimes in the Twenty-First Century, including blackmail, support of genocide, and terrorist massacres against foreign states they deem "inferior" to the so-called West.

The wars of aggression that the US has been starting were based on lies. These include most notably the 2003 Iraq War. Of this war, UK blogger Sophie Stephenson wrote in her blog as follows:
When Bush and Blair invaded and destroyed Iraq, the war was sold to the public as a preventative measure to eliminate Saddam Hussein’s (non-existent) stockpile of weapons of mass destruction, because of the dictator’s (non-existent) ties to al-Qaeda, and – perhaps most insulting of all – to liberate the Iraqi people.
Of the supposedly different foreign policy of the regime since Obama was nodded into office, she wrote:
(Obama) has in reality gone further than ever before to establish American hegemony, covertly using religion as a tool to achieve this.
By this, Stephenson refers to US support for terrorists against secular governments in Libya and Syria in order to replace order and stability with chaos, so as to shrink any organized "threat" to America.

The current sectarian conflict in Iraq and Syria is not the accident of US-led regime change as portrayed in the media. Rather, it is a deliberate plan by the American regime to replace stable and unified enemy states with disintegration into a Stone Age tribal civilization like so-called "Islamic State" (ISIL) that can easily be kicked around and bombed by the US and Israel without consequence.

Stephenson explains that such anarchy and weakness "was the desired outcome for the American elite. A unified, secular country may lead to aspirations which do not conform with US interests (meaning those of Wall Street and the energy sector); religious fanaticism is preferable to nationalism."

The neocons as described by Stephenson are no less than genocidal planters who bomb any sign of development in foreign countries so they will not threaten the "superior" West. Their conquest is about halting historic progress, reversing any political unity among oppressed people, and replacing it with reaction and division.

Zionist Israel, Stephenson says, is also a focal point for such a vision of conquest by divide and rule. Throughout the expansion of so-called ISIL, the group has posed no threat to Israel, while Israel and other major Western allies such as Turkey and Saudi Arabia continue to attack and undermine the same forces trying to stop ISIL such as the Syrian government. ISIL itself has threatened all of Israel's enemies, from Iran to Hamas, and not attacked Israel despite attacking everyone else. Due to this, many opponents of the Zionist regime believe it is at least benefiting from the crimes of the ISIL group.

It is likely that neocons will continue to pressure states in the West to commit more crimes against humanity, despite these crimes being already exposed and condemned globally. Including during the Iraq War of 2003, millions of people have consistently taken to the streets around the world to condemn neocon crimes.

Despite opposition to them and the ongoing Iraq Inquiry in the UK, neocon mass murderers and extremists such as Dick Cheney and Tony Blair continue to be presented as normal or even respectable people at several media outlets and asked for their opinions. None of the war criminals have been executed.

Straitjacket for murderer John McCain

The Blog

US Senator and Cold War-era criminal John McCain "should be in a straitjacket" rather than Congress.

That's the view of Mike Whitney, a conflict analyst writing at CounterPunch in a recent op-ed. The provocative op-ed appeared in the October 21 issue of the well-known investigative magazine, which once made its name by publishing unflattering pictures of Henry Kissinger from a conference in Brazil.

McCain is a particular target of ridicule by Whitney because of the way he now calls for the US to start using its air power aggressively against the Russians, interfering in the Russian airstrikes against terrorist groups backed by the US. Whitney characterized McCain's statements as a call for the Third World War, because such action by the US would entail US forces attacking Russian forces, and both sides possess nuclear-capable vessels and aircraft on call to aid on the battlefield.

What you need to know about Arizona Senator John McCain:
  • McCain has supported illegal wars that have murdered millions of people, including the 2003 aggression against Iraq and the aborted 2013 aggression against Syria.
  • These wars include the Vietnam War, in which McCain personally murdered civilians by dropping Agent Orange and napalm on their homes.
  • During the Vietnam War, McCain also bombed and murdered 134 US personnel in a deadly incident on the USS Forrestal.
  • McCain's father, an Admiral in the US Navy, covered up the Israeli attack that killed 34 US sailors on the USS Liberty, and also covered up his son's aforementioned murder of US military personnel.

It should be noted that McCain's suggestions on Syria are considered useless by US generals at this point, even though McCain has access to the same classified intelligence briefings as them. The US military leadership rejected targeting Syrian forces with its air power as too difficult in 2013. As a result, the US had opted for naval bombardment instead in the planned aggression. This aggression ultimately never occurred as Assad consented to dismantle his chemical weapons, under pressure from Russia.

So-called "war hero" McCain seems to have forgotten the military facts on the ground and is even more oblivious to the fact that the Russian Navy has blockaded US access to Syria from the Mediterranean. Considering this, Whitney's analysis sees no prospect of McCain's recommendations being adopted by the Pentagon.

However, as Whitney points out, McCain is also a supporter of the neoconservative policy goal of dismantling the Syrian Arab Republic into several warring regimes propped up by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and others. The plan, which was articulated at publications and think tanks, refuses to countenance Syria regaining its territorial integrity.

The US has been increasingly panicked in recent days, disappointed as civilians return home to towns and villages secured by the Assad government, which still enjoys majority popular support. The US sees this progress as a threat to its goal of dismantling Syria, depopulating and returning the country to the Stone Age in order to serve Israel at the expense of the US's own security.

We reported earlier that Mike Whitney had predicted Russia would outmaneuver the US in Syria, which appears to have come true now. This was prior to the Russian airstrikes, which now appear to have made massive progress against ISIL and other terror groups. Considering the Russian successes, Whitney encourages Russian President Vladimir Putin to push on and ignore any US requests for dialogue, which only aim to delay restoring security to the country.

US 'irrational actor' against other states

The Blog

International Relations (IR) theory demonstrates that the regime of the United States, including competing presidential candidates, are irrational and do not understand their own country's interests.

An essay has been spotted getting re-blogged at Fort Russ - a recently founded media criticism blog. It looks at differing IR approaches and ultimately concludes that the United States is more interested in protecting the national interests of the State of Israel than the United States. This analysis was originally published at the Center for Syncretic Studies (CSS), a small geopolitics think tank, and was authored by academic activist Joaquin Flores.

Syria was the main focus of the analysis, as Flores dissected how the US involvement in the conflict is harmful to the US's own national interests and exposed how the only possible beneficiary is Israel. For years, there has already been a respected view among scholars in the realist school of International Relations that Israel serves no valuable role in US strategy and is solely a liability. John Mearsheimer and Strephen Walt were the pioneers of such a thesis, and attracted much controversy by publishing it.

While offering no substantive benefit for US interests, the alliance with the apartheid regime in Israel and its goal of land-grabbing and occupation of Arab lands draws the US into a costly and pointless international scandal. It stains the image of the US among all the other countries of the Middle East - some of whom the US actually depends on for its energy supplies.

The US does not actually rely on Israel for anything and gains nothing by being allied to the Tel Aviv regime, making US actions to support Israel essentially suicidal. Flores notes how unusual this relationship is, stating, "lack of sovereign control over foreign policy is typically seen in the dependency model and is normal for weaker states subject to control by stronger states", yet the US is stronger than Israel and seems to be led around like a mule by this smaller state. The consequences of the US relationship with a small parasite state, which offers nothing to the US in return for US blood sacrifices in the region, could only entail the death of the US regime alongside Israel.

Flores' chilling analysis explained that the US is destined to defeat, because its supposedly hawkish global strategy constantly undermines US interests and causes devastating setbacks for US national security at every level. Selected key points from Flores' analysis:
Recent statements by US officials and candidates for office are indeed not only subjectively obnoxious but also objectively illegal by the standards of international law
...this [interventionist] posturing... would actually result in catastrophic defeat for the Empire in the Syrian theatre, if words were translated into actions...
...US media attempts to paint Russia’s publicly stated aim [to protect the Assad regime] as if it is a conspiracy... But the Russian president... went on US television on NBC’s 60 minutes and – when directly asked by the interviewer – confirmed that indeed Russia is working to buttress the recognized government of Syria.  These actions are entirely consistent with international law...
...that the US undertakes its actions in contravention to international law and standing accords and agreements between states, it is also exceptional...
...rather than being viewed as problematic and evidence of a criminal system which stands outside... the international community... American exceptionalism is viewed as a providential right and an inherent good...
...The United States... is the single state that repeatedly confuses the basic concepts and terms in IR and international law – creating an incoherent mess out of meaning, language, and internationally accepted standards. It combines and mixes phrases and meanings, which produces a meandering and self-referential combination of ‘mumbo-jumbo’ which categorically can only be described as discoherence.  It switches its own internal and implied meanings and definitions for the consensus ones...
...‘legitimacy’ in US language only refers to its friends and partners, and vaguely though very inconsistently refers to concepts of democracy, freedom, and human rights.  It is confused and inconsistent...
...The United States uses international platforms to threaten other states and to communicate in this discoherent syntax to its own population.  But other states interpret their statements, indeed as threats, but ones which are not rational and instead based in this discoherence...
...acts as a Chauvinist, and irrational idealist state...
...the most dangerous, historically.  US policy in the middle-east is largely irrational... from either a realist or idealist perspective. From these perspectives, there is little basis for intervention if the US does not want to face serious set-backs in the global arena, or if it does not want to create a global conflict which it is projected to lose...
... its policies, whether rational or irrational, are not rooted in an idealism based in conceptions of peace, mutual respect, and stability – but rather in conceptions of domination, chauvinism, exceptionalism, and the fetishization of military solutions
... its self destruction will not be the result of trying to save the world, but as a result of trying to dominate it... Its motivations... will however have... a material consequence in the willingness of other states to aid the US in the aftermath of its self-immolation.
The abridged analysis makes the situation very clear. The United States is alone in promoting its radical ideology of US "exceptionalism" (the idea that the US is the most superior country in the world and the model for all other countries to follow) even though it talks of allies and partners.

The result is an "inherent bad faith model", whereby the US regime is only capable of reacting hostilely to initiatives by any other regime in the world. Even good progress or peaceful acts by other countries are dismissed as hostile subterfuge and scheming by the US leadership, who will only ever acknowledge the US as doing anything "good".

Such "good" (which will include lies, breaches of international law, and outright murder) is itself defined in the most chauvinist terms. It will encompass anything that promotes US leadership over the world.

The US regime's political leadership qualify as 'chauvinist irrational idealists' as the essay sttes. The US has become incapable of normal diplomatic relations with other states because its leadership can no longer communicate their intentions to other nations in any language other than threats and violence. They are currently speaking in what Flores calls "mumbo jumbo", whereby US leaders concoct their own deluded and twisted definitions of political terms such as "legitimacy" and "democracy", which no other countries understand.

The US threatens other countries with war if they do not obey edicts based on its unintelligible chauvinism and nonsense ideology, which is not recognized by other countries.

Not only does the handicapped US regime fail to communicate its intentions to other countries because of its confusing language, but it cannot even understand its own goals. Such is the effect of promiscuously mixing propaganda terms with diplomacy, and speaking to other nations in the language of one nation's own propaganda and ideological delusion.

In International Relations (IR) an irrational actor refers to a country that cannot be negotiated with because its actions cannot be understood by other actors, making it extremely dangerous and suspect. No-one can predict what it is going to do next. Often, in IR classrooms, the term also refers to apocalyptic terrorist groups including al-Qaeda and rogue states with an isolated, radical ideology. The term easily applies to a country isolating itself with beliefs in its own national superiority, like the US regime.

The regime's calculus of how to act is anchored in confused and dangerous chauvinism that only appeals within the regime and clashes with the international community, creating conflicts.

"Superpower" suppresses technology

Harry J. Bentham

Aggressive mass surveillance and the continued sanctions on Iran originate with the same ideological goal: relentless control over all things technological.

Many progressives find fault with the modernity of technology. In their view, all technological progress only favors the state and the corporate elite, and constantly disempowers ordinary people [1]. Such a perspective is based on prejudices, heralding pessimism that could only disempower and censor us even more. This essay offers a very different interpretation of the relationship between hegemonic and statist interests and the spread of new information technologies.

The global spies and punishers are the ones who have betrayed everything modernity stands for. They have turned their backs on the technological progress that marks us apart from the other apes. They are the Luddites. In their desire to monitor, restrict and control everything for themselves, they are retarding the potential of our technology to truly improve life and freedom for all. And, like the Luddites, they are doing this to keep their jobs.

The United States is indeed a focal point for most of the technological breakthroughs in the world, but the fruits of all these breakthroughs remain inadequately shared with the rest of humanity. By failing thus, we in the West fail to inspire or educate, and so fail to fulfill any supposed role as the leaders of modernity.

What exists in the United States and other Western countries is not an environment for true technological progress. It is environment for profits and hoarding. As the celebrated physicist Michio Kaku has pointed out, there is a “brain drain” by which the US is supported by foreign scientists and takes credit for their accomplishments [2]. At the same time, the US allies threaten countries with sanctions and airstrikes if they appear to be progressing beyond the rigid bounds of technology delineated by the US and its cruel apologists, as it is with Iran.

What has been stated above may seem like a hard case to present, as it is not comparable with many other statements being made in the present politics. However, it finds good theoretical support between the lines of a similar economic theory. The particular theory explaining the imperative behind such a drive for monopoly and restrictions on the circulation of decisive technologies is the theory of the “capitalist world-economy”, as articulated by US social scientist Immanuel Wallerstein in his lectures and essays [3]. This theory portrayed the world as divided between the struggling countries of the global periphery and the self-appointed club of the rich core (who also happen to be the Bilderberg powers and OECD signatories) [4].

The core countries, which are primarily led from Washington, maintain their dominance by having a higher level of monopoly within the global production process [5]. They control decisive new areas like the genetic engineering and microcomputer industries, as well as emerging technologies [6]. It is from their centers, such as Silicon Valley, that the most valued industrial technologies begin to contribute to the global production processes.

The division of the world into low-tech and high-tech producers is the axial division of labor, long necessitated by the nature of a profit-driven world divided in terms of national borders and by the restriction of countries to having a specific economic base determined by their history (agrarian or industrial?) By reducing other countries to a state of dependency, the industrialized core is able to wield a more powerful military and obtain more political rights on the global stage [7]. This injustice, in turn, allows them to legitimize further oppression on the grounds that they are the most advanced and that the others need them more than they need the others. It is inevitably this injustice that gives the rich countries the ability to impose sanctions on others whom they disagree with.

As the core countries possess the more powerful position in the production process, it follows that they may at times deliberately thwart development, degrading technology and with it health and life in the rest of the world. There have been events that confirm the validity of this thesis. From US hostility to Japan’s rapid technological advancement to present US hostility to Iranian scientific progress, the rich and powerful remain as equipped and poised as ever to “set them back a decade or two or three”, as US Republican congressman Duncan Hunter ranted [8]. A comparable sentiment was found in the infamous words of Curtis LeMay concerning North Vietnam, and the threats of mass murder issued by Zionist Israel against the hapless Gaza Strip.

The core countries’ unilateral spying on the world only reinforces this thesis. What they are doing, in that case, is amassing capabilities and hiding them. They are subverting technology, arresting its natural destiny to empower the common man. They sought to hide these capabilities, to preserve them without challenge and so maintain the status quo. This, they knew, would maximize their power and profits.

Rather than allowing civilization to adjust and progress by knowing about and overcoming the brute technological arsenal of the state, the monopolistic powers are in love with secrecy for exactly the same reasons that the corporations are in love with intellectual property. The more barriers they set up to prevent others knowing what they have, the less the likelihood that anyone will be able to see the pathways to overthrow their unjust preponderance of power and wealth.

Julian Assange’s consideration of the perpetual use of security fears to attack internet freedom is particularly informative in this regard. Speeches on terrorism, narcissistic caressing of the US regime as the world’s only responsible custodian, and assumptions that some among humanity are just too irresponsible to hold certain capabilities, are always used [9].There is no fault in the analysis that the same arguments used to attack internet freedom are being recycled to attack Iranian scientific progress. These phobic arguments, which reject any notion of the human family, are deeply paranoid at best and racially aggravated and at worst.

Statist and hegemonic restrictions on technology’s potential in the name of security are nothing but Luddite policies swimming against the technium’s tide of freedom described in the works of Kevin Kelly [10]. Such restrictions presuppose that allowing the inevitable freedom of access to knowledge and the human right to develop independently will culminate in a security threat. What the defenders of the paranoia and monopoly fail to mention is that their actions interfere in creativity. Attempting to hoard all capabilities and strike others who attempt to develop is a blatant attack on technology itself – an affront to the natural force of the technium.

We can learn two very important conclusions from what has been exposed by the state’s massive betrayal of modernity and attempt to circumvent it. First, the view that the NSA’s sinister mass surveillance is a manifestation of out-of-control technological progress is opposite to the truth. It is the NSA and the statists themselves who fear today’s technological explosion and its liberating potential. The NSA’s violation is an attempt to retard the liberating effects of technology in the world today. They have tried to stab modernity in the back. As such, the opponents of the spies need not use Luddite arguments. They should instead be exposing the paranoid state and its supporters as Luddites – sluggish and archaic authorities opposing the freedoms that modernity stands for.

Second, we must more eagerly prepare for the near future when monopoly, state power and the appropriation of knowledge by companies are made impossible by the very acceleration and democratization of technology itself. A top theory of this awakening was authored by Yannick Rumpala, who speaks of a radical change in the capitalist mode of production as a consequence of new manufacturing technologies [11]. Although Rumpala’s paper itself is mainly discussing the implications of additive manufacturing (3D printing), the inclusion of K. Eric Drexler’s atomically precise manufacturing (APM) revolution [12] and J. Craig Venter’s synthetic biology revolution [13] makes the experiment of a networked economy with no factories, no corporations and no state increasingly possible.

Our other possible world may only be decades away, making our prescience of the political ramifications now truly important. It may have the potential to radicalize and transform everything about our economic and political existence, violating the former paradigm entirely and replacing it with something no-one can accurately predict.

Let us not fall for the view that mass surveillance is a case of our technology breaking bad. It is a clear manifestation of the doomed state’s paranoia in the face of the common man’s technology. What we have seen from the surveillance state, massive monopolistic corporations and the neoconservative ideologues defending the two is a pure Luddite manifestation of the phobia of technology. As George W. Bush once admitted, the “gravest danger” to US hegemony is “at the crossroads of radicalism and technology” [14]. In addition to this, neoconservative thinkers such as Francis Fukuyama have stood strongly against the movement encouraging the most radical vision of humanity’s liberation through technology: transhumanism [15].

Information wants to be free. The unrestrained democratization of knowledge and technology is the world’s inheritance, the freedom of humanity to achieve its noblest aspirations.

The dramatic booklet CATALYST: A Techno-Liberation Thesis (2013) explains these theories fully and is the founding document of The clubof.info Blog

Syria Kurds being "used", or using you?

The Blog

Turkey, the US and the Kurdish people have differing goals in Syria, with the US trying to recruit the Kurds against ISIL and the Turks trying to recruit the US against the Kurds.

In the middle of all this is also an odd (alleged) attempt by Israel to develop some kind of treacherous alliance with the Kurdish people against Iran (a longtime friend of the Kurdish people). If true, this would itself clash with both the interests of the US and Turkey in Iraq and Syria and make the situation even more complicated.

Commenting on this controversy, the Wave Chronicle stated that the Kurdish people are being "played as pawns" by Israel, the United States and Turkey (a NATO member).

While many countries including the US claim to have recruited the Kurdish people for their own agenda, the main priority of the Kurdish fighters has consistently been to defend their historic homeland in parts of Syria, Iraq and Turkey. While anti-Assad fighters in Syria claim that the Kurds will help them remove Assad from power, so far the Kurds have shown no deviation from their original goal of defending their homeland from anyone who tries to interfere with their national goals.

Schoolboy lectures Americans on Iran

The Blog

Netanyahu has been publicly humiliated by the nuclear deal with Iran, but uses his airtime to further air his stupidity to the American audience.

Writing at Counterpunch, Andrew Levine notes that in Netanyahu's recent interview with with NPR, he milked his "American High School education for all it’s worth". In the radio interview, the Israeli leader "jabbered on like a befuddled High School principal telling the assembled student body how disappointed he was in them for some incident or other — and admonishing them never to do anything so dastardly again".

Netanyahu did all he could to scuttle the deal with Iran, and all his efforts failed. By going on an all-out assault on the Obama administration, Netanyahu and the Israel lobby group AIPAC risk losing the Democratic Party and losing the support of "all but the most retrograde American Jews."

Levine writes that Netanyahu's crusade against Obama is an "existential threat" to the prosperity of Israel by undermining the bond of political and economic cover that Israel has relied upon in order to maintain its policies of rampant genocide and war against Palestine. Further, Levine predicts, "if word gets out that Israel’s interests and America’s are at odds, even evangelicals awaiting the End Time will become less passionate about the self-declared “nation state of the Jewish people.”"

Noting that Netanyahu arrogantly overestimated the power of pro-Israel campaigners in American politics when trying to scuttle the deal, Levine sees that "the joke is on (Netanyahu)", and concludes about the Israeli leader:
the Israel lobby now has very little to work with beyond itself. And even if it putters on for a while, as it probably will given how obtuse American politicians are, the days when it can count on getting its way are coming to an end.
Netanyahu has hastened that day. No wonder, therefore, that even if he does not yet have reason to despair for the regime he leads, he has every reason to despair of himself.
This was the real meaning of that petulant, self-righteous rant on NPR

Iran nuclear deal vs. the lunatic fringe

The Blog

Opponents of the deal between Iran and world powers are the "lunatic fringe of world opinion".

According to the L'Ordre blog hosted at Beliefnet, the opponents of peace in the Middle East are "a group of isolated warmongers who despite humanity and want to unleash a holocaust on the world in their despair at the growing global chorus to liberate Palestine." The source of America's problems with Iran is Israel, the blog states in a brief analysis published last weekend.

Israel is a "parasite state" that has relied on committing crimes against humanity, annexing land and throwing innocent people out of their homes in order for this regime to survive. Its existence is even more parasitic when it comes to relations with the United States, with Israeli leaders demanding that Americans should die for them in wars against Israel's enemies so the "world's most cowardly regime" will not have to fight its own wars.

The L'Ordre blog took aim at Israeli influence in US politics, describing this as the "most bloodthirsty atrocity" Israel has committed because it has inspired American-led wars to be waged based on lies. However, the blog promises, this influence is shrinking as even the Jewish community in the United States is abandoning Israel, leaving it to be defended by Christian extremists who are "no less interested in starting a Third World War to bring about the Rapture".

Ultimately, the results of Israel's problem with the Islamic world may be of little consequence to Israel's survival, as this is a parasite state and could not survive the deterioration of relations with the United States or other important world powers.

Netanyahu's triumph, a vote for war

The Blog

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's election victory on March 17 means a vote for war by the Israeli public, according to US historical social scientist Immanuel Wallerstein.

Netanyahu's election tactics amounted to "pure demagoguery" that reflects badly on Israeli society, Wallerstein wrote in an analysis of the Israeli election on April 1. Specifically, Wallerstein pointed to Netanyahu's immutable opposition to the two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and his warnings about a growing Arab turnout in Israeli elections as the tactics used to bring him back into office.

Wallerstein suggests a growing consensus among Israeli security figures that Netanyahu's policies are bad for Israel's security, specifically because Netanyahu has taken US-Israeli relations to historic lows:
Just before the elections, a group of distinguished Israeli security figures issued a statement, saying in effect that Netanyahu’s approach was alienating the United States and that this was desperately bad for Israel’s future as a Jewish state.
A well-deserved comparison is drawn between Israel's current regime and the apartheid regime of South Africa, as Israel is viewed in world opinion as an oppressor:
There has been a worldwide transformation of the perception of Israel as a “victim” to that of Israel as a “persecutor.” This is a nightmare for the Zionist cause in Israel. It can only get worse for Israel. There may even come a point, perhaps still a few years from now, that the United States will no longer be willing to veto resolutions in the U.N. Security Council that are critical of Israel.
Faced with the inevitable collapse of their racist state ideal, Netanyahu and most of the Israeli public who elected him rely on delaying and obstructing the peace process or instigating a new major war with the Palestinians and Israel's neighbors. In Wallerstein's words, "The message from Netanyahu is clear. He prefers the major war, and so do the voters who elected him."

"Iranian nuclear bomb" isn't scary

The Blog

Israeli peace activist and writer Uri Avnery is not afraid of Iran getting its hands on nuclear weapons.

While he acknowledges that his view makes him "abnormal" for an Israeli, Avnery goes into detail on the nature of Iranian society and politics to explain that Iran is not prone to take grave risks in its foreign policy, and a nuclear bomb would not change its behavior. If the Islamic Republic developed atomic weapons comparable to Israel's own, it would never use them to attack Israel because it is aware of Israel's own nuclear weapons.

Iran's grievance against Israel is rooted in the oppression of the Palestinian people, Avnery argues, and is shared by all Muslims. Noting that Iran's grievance with Israel is simply not severe enough for the Islamic Republic to risk its own existence by provoking Israeli nuclear retaliation against its own cities and holy sites, Avnery argued at Counterpunch:
Reality shows us that the leaders of Iran are very sober, very calculating politicians. Cautious merchants in the Iranian bazaar style. They don’t take unnecessary risks. The revolutionary fervor of the early Khomeini days is long past, and even Khomeini would not have dreamt of doing anything so close to national suicide.
Iran is very protective of its own security, and rarely takes risks in its foreign policy. Aside from its rhetoric against Israel's treatment of Palestinians, there are no indications that it feels strongly enough about "annihilating" Israel's Zionist regime that it would endanger itself to achieve such a result. Irradiating Islam's holiest sites in Israel and causing fallout in the Palestinian territories with nuclear weapons would only destroy Palestine's efforts to overcome Israeli oppression, which is the Islamic Revolution's sole aim concerning Israel.

The leadership of Israel is well aware that the specter of a fanatical regime committing "national suicide" to destroy Israel (and Islam's second holiest site which is based in Israel) is absurd. However, the Israeli propaganda campaign against Iran is aimed more at gullible American audiences than Israelis, and has to be viewed in light of the history of Israeli aggression and intolerance towards other countries with any ability to retaliate against its aggression (no matter how rational those countries' leaders are).

Israeli "national security" decisions have traditionally been based less on destroying formative military opponents than limiting other countries' development by sabotaging intellectual and industrial growth, including murdering scientists and moderate politicians. The Israeli leadership cannot separate its legitimate sense of "security" from its sense of impunity when it knows that it is guilty of aggression and horrendous war crimes. Israel's history of aggression and striking first, and Iran's comparatively clean record, make Israel much more likely to attack its neighbors with nuclear weapons or compose its policies illogically and suicidally than Iran. Israel, not Iran, is the country on course to "national suicide", and Netanyahu's paranoid comments and warmongering are the clearest signs of this worrying behavior.
